Instead of beginning with a finished idea, begin with one item. Write a scene suggested by a photograph, make a small mood board, or trace a detail into its historical context. These are creative exercises, not claims about the original maker’s intent.
Keep the context with the material
Keep the item’s source link and read its rights information. A collection label is a useful starting point; details about the material and your intended use still deserve attention.
