A ballot is evidence of a vote
The AP’s published process describes a 50-member media panel, and the February 2026 roster includes Russini. The roster establishes participation in that panel. It does not reveal how she ranked a particular award.
A complete ballot would answer a narrow but important question: which candidates received that voter’s support, and in what order? It would not, by itself, explain a voter’s motive. Inferring motive would require additional evidence, and any conclusion should account for alternative explanations.
Whose requests are on the record?
In an April 19 report, Pro Football Talk described its own unanswered questions to AP about reviewing ballots. That is a dated account of another outlet’s outreach. It does not mean itslit sent the same requests, nor establish what AP has communicated since then.
Our tracker has seven questions prepared for four institutions. The AP questions address the ballot, disclosure requirements, panel membership and removal standards. They remain marked Ready to send. There is no institutional response deadline running on our behalf.
Could one voter change the outcome?
That is a numerical question, not a conclusion to draw from a controversy. Answering it requires the official scoring rules, the full result and a clearly stated counterfactual. Removing a ballot and replacing it with a different ranking are different calculations. A responsible analysis must say which one it uses.
We have not published that calculation here. We will not claim that an award changed hands without the data needed to demonstrate it. Even an outcome that could not change would leave the separate policy question of how conflicts are disclosed.
What would resolve the process questions?
Useful evidence includes a released ballot, a dated current roster, written conflict rules and an explanation of any review. Each can close a specific question without requiring a sweeping judgment about everyone involved. If an answer resolves a concern, it belongs on the page just as visibly as the original question.
